I have an IBM which at the time had Windows 98. Some things went wrong and I need to reload Windows because a dll file is not in the correct path. Can I put XP in place of 98 and have Windows/the computer up and working properly? Thank you.

I have used the sysprep utility that I use for WXP SP1 systems on a system with WXP SP2 and it worked fine. According to the docs and discussions, it is not suppose to work. What exactly is the problem with using the older sysprep utility?
