I have upgraded my laptop to XP-Pro, SP-2. My problem is that once I did this I have very little room left on my 5.2 gig. HD. Does XP create a backup file that of the original installation that remains on the HD? Can that be deleted once the the system is up and running?

I just got a used laptop and they removed all their old programs and stuff. But I was wondering how I could remove all the old user data and things, such as their documents and settings folder. I created a new username for me and their old username is not in the list.

I'm trying to figure out how to install XP without using my CD drive. I know I can simply boot from the XP install disk and go from there. But what I would like to do is: Copy my XP disk to a folder (say, winxp) on D drive.

I have Win ME on C: WinXP Pro on D: and data files on E: (all partitions on the same drive). I would like to get rid of Win ME now as I don't need it anymore (for older program compatibility). Is there any way to remove ME and still keep XP working without having to reinstall XP?

When i am trying to install Windows XP Home Edition or Professional Edition onto a Sata hard drive it says it does not find a hard drive to install windows on and tells me to push F3 to cancel, then it makes me reboot.

I purchased XP Home and the computer died. Can I load the XP software on another old computer or will there be problems since the computer or update site may thing the software is loaded on more than one computer? If there is a problem how can it be fixed?

Windows XP Professional I used the verifier to test a driver after the Bluescreen I rebooted to safemode(system started chkdsk while booting) then I disabled all driver tests. The reboot in normal Mode causes following Problems:

Pegasus, I am interested in a resolution. I made a "parallel" install of XP PRO as a safety measure (I.e., instead of wiping out C: and making a fresh install on C:) bcs of other disks the parallel install was assigned the letter F:.
