I tried installing Sp2 on a 250gig Maxtor Hd and received  "unmountable_boot
volume".
Can anyone give me a suggestion.

My computer has a SATA hard disk, and a VIA VT8237 south bridge(built-in
SATA controller).
but the winXP installment CD do not include the driver for this SATA
controller.
Upgrading to XP Pro from NT409 Feb 2005 15:35 GMT8
I'm trying to upgrade an NT box to XP Pro. The initial upgrade failed at the
first attempt so I had to reinstall NT and apply Service Pack 6 so the XP Pro
Upgrade CD would work.
However, during the upgrade I've received File Copy Errors on the following

I am looking for an answer on HOW to restore the recent file list in programs.
If I am logged in as a system administrator, I can see the recent file list
in all my programs. However, if I login as a general user, I don't see any
files, just the greyed out text "Recent Files"

The QuickLaunch bar, and task bar settings seem to disappear each time a
user logs out of the computer, and default back to no QuickLaunch, locked
taskbar, and the default task bar size.  All other custom settings seem to
be maintained for the next session (bookmarks, history, cache ...

On Xp Pro I have iinstalled IIS and set the home cataloge of the default
website to point at a folder on my disk.
However at http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 IE6 still shoew a blank
screen.

install of XP, not an upgrade.  Works great.

After having problems over past 3 days, reinstalled software, but wouldnt
allow file sharing or program sharing, did a search for virus with norton,

I ran into a new one today.  My unattended CD will run a vbscript after
installing.  It creates the registry entries for a user account to autologin
and load up the standard applications on the workstation.  It has worked on
every machine for quite awhile now.

We recently finished a year log rollout of new PC's with a custom imge
including Win XP SP1...now we are forced to deploy SP2.

I force the NIC to use 100 Full duplex which is required for our network,
AUTO does not work properly.
The problem is  that  it is always reset to Auto after Sysprep. Do you know
of a way to automatically force it back after sysprep, or remotely via VBS.

I have a Gateway 700XL, 2.53gig.processor, 1gig RAM, the original Lite-On
CD-RW drive I added a LG GSA-4129B DVD writer (to replace the original DVD
writer), and a 100meg internal ZIP drive.
I was having some problems recently writing to DVD+RW disks for my backups.

I created a MSI package and installed it on several XP Pro Sp1 and Sp2
machines.  Now, whenever a user opens IE or clicks on a folder in explorer,
or opens help, etc. the MSi package tries to reinstall.
We let it completely install itself, and right afterward, it tries to do it
