My computer has a SATA hard disk, and a VIA VT8237 south bridge(built-in SATA controller). but the winXP installment CD do not include the driver for this SATA controller.

I am looking for an answer on HOW to restore the recent file list in programs. If I am logged in as a system administrator, I can see the recent file list in all my programs. However, if I login as a general user, I don't see any files, just the greyed out text "Recent Files"

On Xp Pro I have iinstalled IIS and set the home cataloge of the default website to point at a folder on my disk. However at http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 IE6 still shoew a blank screen.

I upgraded ME to XP but it had some residual problems. So I then did a fresh install of XP, not an upgrade. Works great. When I turn on, I get a choice of two XP systems. How do I get rid of the one with problems and keep the smooth running one?

I ran into a new one today. My unattended CD will run a vbscript after installing. It creates the registry entries for a user account to autologin and load up the standard applications on the workstation. It has worked on every machine for quite awhile now.

I force the NIC to use 100 Full duplex which is required for our network, AUTO does not work properly. The problem is that it is always reset to Auto after Sysprep. Do you know of a way to automatically force it back after sysprep, or remotely via VBS.

I have a Gateway 700XL, 2.53gig.processor, 1gig RAM, the original Lite-On CD-RW drive I added a LG GSA-4129B DVD writer (to replace the original DVD writer), and a 100meg internal ZIP drive. I was having some problems recently writing to DVD+RW disks for my backups.

I created a MSI package and installed it on several XP Pro Sp1 and Sp2 machines. Now, whenever a user opens IE or clicks on a folder in explorer, or opens help, etc. the MSi package tries to reinstall. We let it completely install itself, and right afterward, it tries to do it
