I install Windows XP, then copy the i386 cirectory to the C: drive. (C:\i386) I then install SP2, and noticed it has a directory C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386. My question is, do I need both on my system, or can I get rid of the C:\i386

I have tried installing both a 200 and a 250gig hard drive (Maxtor). The computer bios finds it ok but windows will start up to the scroling bar - at 4-5 bars it reboots. I can get into it in a safe mode but not normally. Actually - occasionaly I can get in once or twice.

After a hacker attack into a chat room infested the machine in question (which runs XP), it was clear that a System Recovery was needed. As there was no point to go back to with Restore, Recovery was actually mandatory. Recovery was run, and it crashed.

I am trying to re-format an ARCHOS Jukebox after it carshed. ARCHOS says it needs to be in FAT32 but it is not an option in the format dialog box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've repaired an installation of XP Pro on a laptop when the System Hive became corrupted. Unfortunately, I can't activate. When I try to log on I am told that I need to activate (Yes), but then the PC is logged off without the Activation screen being shown.
