I´ve bought a new computer recently but i´m having problems installing windows Xp. In the store I bought the computer i didn´t asked to install the windows because i had already bought a windows xp cd some time ago.

I'm planning to upgrade my motherboard and cpu. All other components will remain the same. Does anyone know if this will create any problems taking Windows XP updates? Or do I have to call Microsoft? Anyone ran into any problems before?

Starting from a W98 boot floppy, the installation starts to copy files but then just stops and waits forever. Starting from the downloaded XP boot floppies, the install comes up with an error #7 saying it cannot copy the NTKRNLMP.EX_ file on disk #2 and exit is

Hi, My Windows98SE laptop just died the real death. I played with XP home when it first came out, and I think that it will do what I would like it to. I would like advice on how to configure it and whether or not I should use XP Pro.

Purchased XP Pro for my new Dell which is running XP Home. Do I have to remove the Home version first? If so, what happens to other files like Excel, my video, audio, picture files, etc?

If I install a Full OEM CD Version of Windows XP Professional on my computer, what will happen to all of my existing programs ? I currently have Windows 98. There are also 5 - 10 other software programs ( EXCEL, WORD, PhotoShop, etc ). All are on the C: drive.

I have a Toshiba Protege M200 tablet PC and I am trying to do a clean install on it. My problem is that the M200 does not come with a CD/DV drive. I have a CD/DVD drive attached via a USB cable but it is no recognized as bootable (a known problem with the M200 with no fix)

Anyone know the difference in rights between the Local Admin account and a domain account being put in the local admin group.
