Last night I had to do a repair install on my daughter's laptop (She had
tried to install the Sun Java Runtime while Automatic Updates was in the
middle of installing this month's critical hot-fixes), resulting in a
unbootable system.

I´ve bought a new computer recently but i´m having problems installing
windows Xp.
In the store I bought the computer i didn´t asked to install the windows
because i had already bought a windows xp cd some time ago.

I'm planning to upgrade my motherboard and cpu. All other components will
remain the same. Does anyone know if this will create any problems taking
Windows XP updates? Or do I have to call Microsoft?

Starting from a W98 boot floppy, the installation starts to copy files but
then just stops and waits forever.
Starting from the downloaded XP boot floppies, the install comes up with an
error #7 saying it cannot copy the NTKRNLMP.EX_ file on disk #2 and exit is

Hi, My Windows98SE laptop just died the real death. I played with XP home
when it first came out, and I think that it will do what I would like it to.
I would like advice on how to configure it and whether or not I should use
XP Pro.

Problem began yesterday, ate supper came back upstairs and PC would not

remove the Home version first?  If so, what happens to other files like

I cannot upgrade to Windows XP Professional (original without SP1).
I've built a New system with the following components which has WinMe
running just fine on it:
Athlon 64 3000+ (Socket 939)

I have a Toshiba Protege M200 tablet PC and I am trying to do a clean
install on it. My problem is that the M200 does not come with a CD/DV
drive. I have a CD/DVD drive attached via a USB cable but it is no
recognized as bootable (a known problem with the M200 with no fix)

Hey Ron.  Do your Deep Freeze boxes get group policy change info and
patches?  How does that work?

Anyone know the difference in rights between the Local Admin account and a
domain account being put in the local admin group.
