I haven´t seen this one anywhere. I have bought a new computer with XP home
pre installed (XP Pro was not an available preinstall option). So, I also
bought a copy of XP Pro from a different store. Now when I try to install XP
Pro it tells me my Home version is newer than the Pro ...

I've read and searched the forums but not quite found what I'm looking for
and hence my question.
I want to 'move' XP from one partition to another by actually installing it
on the desired partition and then deleting it from where it used to be.

If I use a third party app to ghost XP PRO OEM from Dell, what happens down
the road when Microsoft forces me to authenticate my licenses and all my PC's

I have an OEM version of XP Pro w/SP2 and was attempting a clean install on
my PC. I successfully repartitioned and reformatted the HD but got an error

i'm trying to upgrade from windows 98  to a retail xp home edition cd.  i
have clicked on "install" from the splash screen, there is no spyware or
antivirus running

 if i replace the c: drive after i install xp on an empty d: drive, do i

Can the windows XP home upgrade be installed over a licensed copy of windows
98 OEM  licensed version or does the windows  98 have to be a retail version.
