We are using RIS on a 2003 Server and deploy both XP Pro and 2000 Pro.  All
machines are fairly new and all have PXE cards.
I have a Dell Lattitude laptop which is a few years old.  It has an

I plan to use the backup utlity in XP to backup my files on two seperate
internal drives to a Lacie 500gb external hard drive through Firewire.  Is
there any special setting that I need to set given that I'm backing up to a
firewire device?

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > General tab
There's a "Registered to:" information.
During the installation of WinXP, I'd wrongly key in the registered
user information.

when i start up my computer all i get it a black screen on icon's or anything

When updating my system the computer downloads KB887742 update then just
keeps running the update never finishing.  I have let it run for an hour or
more and the download screen never closes and moves on to the next screen.
What's the problem?

Several months ago, I ran into this problem with the first set of MVLS
XP Pro CD's I recieved, trying to xcopy the entire I386 directory to
the local drive of a PC I was trying to build an image for, the XCOPY

Some relatives have just gotten an old machine (Compaq Presario 7360 Desktop)
with Win XP on it.  It works with a handful of applications, but not with
browsers.  The machine is connected to a router then to a DSL modem, that
part is working fine.
