I've got some files encrypted using xp pro on an old hard drive. I got some new sata drives and i'd like to transfer everything over. I have my 'old' c: (boot) drive backed up with acronis. I am reinstalling xp, and then will use acronis to get my old xp install

Windows 9x had this registry trick. Is there one for XP? Appearently the following doesn't work for XP. REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Network]

I have seen installs of XP that do not require activation. Most of the versions with which I have experience are the oem's. They all seem to require activation so I am currious, which ones do not need to execute that
