When I try to upgrade from a legit disc I get the folowing messages cannot write d:\I386\mfc42.dll to c:\windows\setup\mfc42.dll and then the same for migisol.exe. Windows upgrade set then exits with message Cannot continue error code 5FBFF5Ch. I have tied all sorts of things like

I am using the english version of windows xp however I sometimes need to use polish letters. I have changed the language bar to polish and when I am in word I also change the language in options but it doesn't work. I press alt and the letter I want to change but nothing happens.

Hello The following error continues to pop on my screen when logging onto limited accounts, and at the same time it does not allow me to log on BUT changing the account to one as a Computer Administrator ... it logs on fine, No Error.

When using unattened installation the catalogs containing drivers mentioned in unattened.txt are copied to the root of c:\. I don’t understand why.

I'm getting various error messages so want to try to eradicate the problem by re-installing my XP Professional operating system. But, the version on my CDs is without Service Packs whereas I have since upgraded up to and including SP2. Will it be ok to just install from the CDs?
