I tried to install XP home over my 200 Pro.  About a month ago, I installed a
new CD/DVD burner.  Teh install begins, but when it gets to where it says to
hit enter to start the installation, it says it cannot read the disk.  The IT
guy at work says it doesn't seem to be finding ...

other day ... it was a link to click .... that said you could move things
from one computer to another somehow. And i thought it said something about
using USB ports.

I bought a PC w/ Windows XP Home installed on it about 3 years ago.  I
now need to re-install that OS on that same PC again.  I cannot.  I
cannot find the paper "sticker" that was to have been attatched to the

Anyone have or can point me to a utility that allows me to add users via a
text file like the NT/200* resource kit utility, ADDUSERS?
I've over 100 users to add to an XP pro machine and really don't want to do
it manually.

How can I tell USMT to copy all user's folder on drice C:\ (it can be
anything)  and put it back on the drive c:\ of the new computer?
Right now, USMT is copying some folder and the folders are copied in the My
document folder of the new computer.

Not sure which microsoft NG to post this to but maybe someone can point me
to the right place.
We have 5 systems, all raid 5 with three scsi disks running XP-PRO, all with
latest antivirus and updates but not including SP2.  None on the internet.

On restoring the files and settings on the new installation the fastwiz
stopped with an error.  Can anyone help with how to access the dat file to
extract individual files so that I can recover at least some of the files?

I would like to do a clean install of  XP Pro to the c:\winnt instead of the
default c:\windows on a formatted drive. How do I get the option to point the
install into the desired directory?

Remote Desktop Connection no longer works after upgrade to SP229 Jun 2005 09:45 GMT1
I just upgraded from SP1 to SP2 and my remote desktop connection cut out.  I
can't remote back into my machine anymore.  I've disabled windows firewall
and also made sure the remote desktop option was checked in the remote tab,
however, it refuses to connect.  I get no error ...
