Hi, I'm a computer Tech and a customer brought in a computer with a virus that tore up windows pretty bad. So we repaired windows by installing over the top. After we got done it asked us to activate it. So we did. That went fine.

I've been trying to install the XP Pro 2 Upgrade on my wife's machine. The first attempt pretty much wiped out the HDD (IDE FAT32, 32 MB Partition). The machine would not boot from the HDD, and constantly cycles through the initial setup screen when booting fom the CD.

I'm wondering if there is a way for me to control which users have the capability to write to a CD. I want them to be able to read, but not write. I need control over the actual CD Drive, not any specific CD. Is there a way to do this in XP Pro, and if so, how?
