I've already activated ( a year or so ago) a legit copy of WinXP Home that I own on my old computer. The hard drive died last week. I've had a stand-by machine in the works that I've been taking my time building.

It turns out my version of XP Pro is a Non-Genuine version. I have bought a new XP Pro with SP2. Is there I way I can just use the new valid Product # with the currently loaded XP, or must I go through the pain of installing the new Valid XP Pro?

I tried to use my XP pro upgrade disk ver. 2002 on xp home and it says that the version of home is newer than pro and wont let me upgrade (again this is the upgrade version of xp pro). What steps should I take to get xp pro upgrade installed??

I am building a PC from someone and have therefore purchased an OEM copy of XP Home SP2 from (what I think is) a good supplier. When asked for the product key I enter it from the sticker (that looks real) but get the error "The Product Is you enteres is not valid."

I have been working 2 days on a laptop that is so infected by spywares, adwares, hijackers, ... than I am thinking about reinstalling the OS. The problem is that the CD drive does not work. a) Is there a file version for XP Pro that I can download from the MS site?
