I have a boot disk on cd,but my laptop wont boot from it. I have tried restarting it,and then pressing F1 and the delete buttons,to change the boot order but it doesnt take me to those options.What are the buttons to press other than the 2 mentioned ??? Those keys always work on

I tryed installing Windows XP on my new DELL from scratch. It is my own version of XP and when it boots and I tell it to intall Windows XP on my Hard Drive, it says that I have no hard drive. How do i get it to recognize my hard drive? It recognizes it at boot, but not in setup.

I tend to use long file names, so as to identify needed files readily. If the file saves to my C drive in Windows XP Professional, I don't pay particular attention to the length of the file name that I've used.

When I try to update from my XP home to pro, using an XP update CD, I get the error message: "One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)... It wants me to clean the CD, which isn't dirty.

When I make images with Sysprep I usually change the drive letters for CD/CD-RW and such to X:, Z: etc. This is because my logonscript maps up F: and H: for other purposes. Plus, it is easier to keep track if i.e every CD-ROM is at Z:

How do you copy a file from A: to a certain hardrive directory (e.g. C:\documentsandsettings\mydocuments) using recovery console. I tried the command: "Copy *.*C:\folder\folder\filename*.*" but it still wouldnt copy.
