Hi, I have Win Xp Pro SP2, when the computer boots and gets to the login

Hi i am running an XP Home withut sp2. I cannot install HP 1020 laser printer
.. hardware vendor says its because i dont have sp2 , but hp customer support
says not to install sp2. can i add some dll files separately to the system32
folder????
