I am trying to change the name on my computer: All I can do is change the
computer's name (on, for example, a network) from 'CompaqPres1200' to
'livingroomcomputer' by using the change computer name utility at Kelly's

I upgraded win98 to win xp and planned to use a linksys wireless card in my
pc.
The upgrade went well but in trying to set up the wireless card I

I have just rebuilt a PC for a friend (well, he was before we rebuilt).
We installed a new WD drive as the master (jumper 5&6 selected on a 40
wire ribbon cable), and the WD drive from his old Win 98 PC as slave

My startup tab in msconfic lists a command to a program (spyware, grrr...)
that I've removed.  How can I edit my startup (and not just ticking the
corresponding box so it dosen't load) so that the command is completely gone?

I am a recent (forced) convert to XP. There are bits I don't mind and there
are bits I positively dislike. I've managed to stop most of the screens
looking like a kids toy but there are still some things I haven't managed to

This is driving me crazy.
No matter what I do, I cannot get a customized power scheme to 'stick'
after sysprepping a system. It always defaults back to the Home/Office
setting.

I would like to set up a RAM disk in Windows XP.  I have 1.5 GB of RAM, and
for certain applications, I want to allocate 500 MB to a temporary RAM drive.
There used to be a nice utility (I think called ramdrive.sys) that did this

I'm a Mac person trying to help my Mom with her Dell running XP Home.  I used
Windows Update to install Service Pack 2, and now her PC has gone batty.  
When I try to get to the internet, I get a Remote Procedure Call error, and
it shuts down the computer in 60 seconds.
