I have a blank Admin password. Just wanted to get that out there first as it is usually the problem. Sysprep.inf is not seting my Admin password unless it is not encrypted and I am not receiving an error message, it just remains blank.

I would like to install SP2 manually but via remote control software to workstations at another location. This is fine until the PC reboots and opens a wizard asking the user to set Automatic Updates / Firewall settings and there is no one at the other end

Is there a way to configure XP Home edition to store "all data" in one location for backing up. much of it is in the Documents and settings folders, but how about the rest of XP data. Other applications is unimportant due to the fact I can set where the data

I get this error on start up. Config32 file missing or corrupt. I hit the f8 key again and use last knowed config that worked to log on. I tried to use the links for this error and always get file not found. Can I reinstall windows from the windows screen?

After choosing "R" from the "Welcome to Setup" screen, it doesn't give a choice of operating systems to choose from; just a C: prompt. I was going to attempt a repair from the recovery console as described by Charlie White in one of his articles.

I'm running XP Media Center edition with SP2 and all latest updates. Other than the updates, will I lose anything if I upgrade to XP Pro? Is there anything I should be sure to back up, like IE favorites? Any other considerations?

I've had problems with boot from a WinXP cd. I've a HP desk top PC. BIOS Version/Date: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. IP.01.06US. When I started the screen it showed "Standard Bios shadowed, Vedio bios shadowed" . it doesn't show "pree any key to boot from CD..."
