Sysprep issues with WinXP SP2 (that I did not have with WinXP SP1)10 Mar 2006 19:01 GMT8
Under SP1 I had an "master image" drive that had everything configured
exactly how I wanted it.  When I needed to change the image, I would
logon with the administrator account and make the change to the system,
and then run sysprep and "use mini-setup" and then "reseal."

Can the Registry be replaced in Win2K and WinXP like it could be in NT 4.0?10 Mar 2006 03:06 GMT1
I remember being able to use a command on NT 4.0 to force it to replace
the Registry with a "virgin" copy, as it is when the OS is first
installed. I was told this was for debugging purposes during the
development cycle but MS (thank goodness) chose to leave it in the

I'm a US citizen currently abroad. I work for a Japanese company (in Japan)

detected and work just fine.
Installing updates using a batch file09 Mar 2006 16:31 GMT1
We load OEM systems.  Ocassionally the image we use will not work and I have
to install from the media.  Since Windows now has to be validated to download
the patches, I usually install them by hand.
I would like to automate the process with a batch file so they will all go

Windows XP as a pure remote desktop client to Windows 2003 Server09 Mar 2006 00:55 GMT1
I need to configure non-domain Windows XP clients to run nothing but a
remote desktop client on a Windows 2003 AD network. They will need to
run this RDP session in place of explorer.exe to ensure the user cannot
do anything but connect to this particular RDP session.

Why do I still see XP Home Features after upgrading to XP Professi08 Mar 2006 02:16 GMT3
I upgraded from XP Home to XP Professional.  However, I still see the XP Home
Features.  I cannot turn on the extra security features like CTRL ATL DEL,
which is the most important for us now.  Any ideas without having to do a
complete reinstall?
