I am not sure this is the best place to ask this question but it did seem
appropriate.
I have a computer with XP Pro (and Office Pro) installed on it but I have

I couldn't get XP reinstalled on my computer myself, so I had an IT person at
work do it for me.  Finally got my computer back & although she used the
CD-Rom drive to install XP, the CD-Rom drive is now not being read.  Can't
reinstall software!  If this is wrong area for this ...

I was playing a game (civ 4, which had a flakey install) and the computer

I can't figure it out.... my machine will load XP home, but when I put XP Pro
or Media Centre on it, it freezes at the splash page just before loading.

my wife's laptop was stolen recently - but i still have the recovery discs
containing windows xp - can i install windows using that disc on an old
computer that currently uses windows ME? or, once it's been installed on one
computer, will i be prevented from activating it?

One royal pain in moving from peer to peer network to active directory domain
is handling the user accounts on the existing local machine.  Are there any
automated tools to do the following:
1.  Give the domain user account administrator privledge on the local machine.

My 40MB hard drive has plenty of free space but Local Disk C is only 10% free
and Local Disk D is 89% free.  I don't know why it is petitioned.  Can I
repartition or remove the partition?

Basically I used setup manager to create an unattend.txt answer file.
My intent was to deploy XP via a GPO, and that is why I liked using
setup manager because, as part of its processing, it modified the
winnt32.msi file to take into account the unattend.txt file it created

This is a problem I am having with my laptop.
I tried to reinstall XP, but for some reason my cd drive would not let me
boot from cd, so i installed XP when XP was already running.
