it is hanging at "creating restore point" for a long time, how long should

I have a Technet subscription and I am trying to exceed the Windows XP
activations.  I was told by Microsoft that the products keys in my technet
subscription would allow 10 activations and that the activation is tied to
the MAC address.  I have tried over 30 times and each time ...

I don't know how but I lost my cd\dvd. I can not even open it. The yellow
light is on.
In contoll panel I can not find anything about my cd\dvd drive and I can not
reinstall the driver.

When I was installing windows xp pro with sp2, could not get it to install a
file called "tourW.exe". Had to skip  and finished the installion without any
further hitches. However, now, cannot install updates. Anyone know what
tourW.exe is and how I can fix it?

is there, as there used to be, a way to boot up Windows XP Home one step at
a time, via the safe mode and yes/no process for each executable?  I am
trying to isolate a very clever virus file which Norton catches and deletes

have looked at a utility called Universal Image Utility, which works
great for deploying to all types of machines (They guarantee that the
build will work on all mainstream hardware i.e. Dell, HP, Compaq etc.).
