I don't know how but I lost my cd\dvd. I can not even open it. The yellow light is on. In contoll panel I can not find anything about my cd\dvd drive and I can not reinstall the driver.

When I was installing windows xp pro with sp2, could not get it to install a file called "tourW.exe". Had to skip and finished the installion without any further hitches. However, now, cannot install updates. Anyone know what tourW.exe is and how I can fix it?

is there, as there used to be, a way to boot up Windows XP Home one step at a time, via the safe mode and yes/no process for each executable? I am trying to isolate a very clever virus file which Norton catches and deletes but it always comes back to play another day.
