physical disks and using the BIOS to select which disk to boot from when I
need to change. Although this works, I'd rather have a boot menu. Are there
options for boot.ini to accomodate for multiple disks ...

Hi, I have spent the last 3 days trying every conceivable way to boot
up the iso image of my Windows XP that I made and burned to CD. I have
searched and googled but am not getting the results from any of those
posts. I keep getting a this program cannot be run in DOS mode or this

Using XP-Home version.  I re-set the BIOS boot sequence to be CDROM,A,C and
also tried F,A,C (the ROM drive is device F) and it still boots from the C
drive.
Now my CDROM is an external drive.  Might that be the problem?

I tried to install Win XP Pro today on an HP PAvilion 6470z with a PCI USB
hub, Memorex 52X CDRW, and DLink Ethernet card.  Well, it hasn't gone well at
all.  I spent about 5 hours on the phone with MS tech support to no avail.  
It would start loading the drivers and then freeze ...

I am attempting to upgrade from Windows Me on my older HP computer.  Part of
the way through the process, setup alerts me that it can't find a previous
version of Windows (even though a legitimate Me is still there,)  and that it
needs a Windows cd.

I have recently bought a pc with xp pro which turned out as not genuine. I
have an genuine xp home disk which I used to clean install the os. I chose to
delete the original partition which held the xp pro and then install xp home
(or so I thought!) .

When trying to run search assistant in either Windows Explorer or My Computer
I get a message that a file needed to run search assistant is missing and I
may need to run setup again.  However, I can't run setup from my Windows XP
cd because I've since downloaded and installed ...

I downloaded the file for creating the 6 diskettes for starting setup from
the floppy drive.  Disk #1 works fine.  The problem occurs after I insert
Disk #2 as instructed on the screen.  Although I press Enter, as instructed,

I have a Dell with 2 HD running XP Pro. (I have an 8MB non partionned
area on both drive)
