Same issue as someone else, but my issue is that I had Vista Beta 2 on

So in with teh xp cd, Delete the existing partition, create a new one

This update from the Windows Update website refuses to install even though I

reason for buying the new one) he can't get it to download. He should have

windows installed fine (XP pro), and I was working on it yesterday.  I'd
turned off fast user switching but left the welcome screen active.  I set the
admin account to be visible and disabled the other account I'd made during
install.  Now when booting it arrives at the welcome ...

I have recently purchased a HPdv2050us laptop with has a Windows XP Home OEM
installation. I want to change my OS by installing Windows XP Professional
and removing Windows XP Home.
I purchased the Windows XP professional software. When trying to install,

I want to copy users profiles from an old domain (nt4) to another one.
My problem is that my old profile is listed as "unknown account" in the
User profiles tab and I cannot "copy to" the profile because the option
is grayed out.

Was running Windows Home Edition  NT Workstation.  Fat32 file system.  
Somehow (I did it) it changed to the ntfs file system.  Running NT
Workstation.  I tried to fix this by formatting harddrive and re-installing
XP Home Edition with the *Recovery* disk (the only disk) that came ...
