I have a laptop with XP Pro on it. It has a virus and lots of problems, so I want to format and reinstall the OS. I don't have a recovery disk, but I do have the serial number of the Windows installed on that computer.

i am uninstalling service pack 2 installed on windows xp professional machine. The uninstallatin files exist in c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall\... . but after completion of a file remains in ..\$ntservicepackuninstall\spuninst\_000225_tmp.dll still exists
