I am inheriting a machine that has XP Home. My old machine, which I will be

I have a dual boot system currently with Linux and Windows ME. I'd like to
upgrade my ME install to XP. My question is; will the upgrade to XP overwrite
the Master Boot Record that allows me to dual boot currently?

i have two drives  c and d  both 60 gig

My Windows XP will not boot up. The PC gets through the POST and memory
check but when Windows starts to load, it flashes a BSOD for a split second
(too fast to read anything) and reboots. Trying to boot the Safe Mode does
the same.

I've got the following hardware:
Asus P5LD2
Kingston Value RAM - 2Gigs
2 Seagate SATA 320 Gig drives

Just purchased windows xp professional and trying to install.  Computers says
newer version on computer but not aware of any program already installed.

I installed windows xp on a Time computer I had that had windows 98
on. I formatted the drive and removed all partitions. On boot up all I
get now is "searching for boot record on ide-0. ok", and then it
hangs.
