I am running WinXP SP2 and have to use USB devices but the software I am
using (Progress 9) maps to COM ports or LPT ports.  I have searched the
internet to find something that will allow me to creat a virtual port mapped
to a usb device.  Can anyone help?

I had to upgrade BIOS so I ended up in "Load BIOS defaults".
That nice operation disabled nVidia RAID setup on ASUS mobo - I didn't
notice that. After that change XP started ok, however discovered 2 HDDs,
installed drivers for them and now I see two HDD's rather than one.

I'm not very Techy...but here goes...
On restart my computer went to a DOS screen with a "Windows could not start
because the following file is missing or corrupt: windows/system32/..." error

I purchased a copy from Best Buy, but when I tried to install it, it would

                   are you all busy downloading XP SP3, I have already done
this yesterday and installed it on one computer,
everything went smoothly it took about an hour to complete the job. It has

I have a computer that had XP-Prof loaded on - probably pirated. I
wanted to get rid of it so I purchased a legal copy of XP-Home Ed. and
loaded the system - everything went well, I deleted the old Windows
directory and the new XP runs fine.

except...the FAQ.HTM refers to SP2, not SP3?

DDR-400 in my PC. No I think it's DDR-3200 or a combination. Anyways, I've

i was wondering if there is some universal registry/policy setting that can
be set on an xp client so that all patches that are installed on the system
install with the /nobackup switch, without having to specify nobackup for
each individual patch.

I had a virus attack and my hard disk was corrupted. I insetrted a windows 98
CD(as I had problem finding XP) and deleted C: partition.Now When I try
installing Win XP, in the startup sceen for installing it just shows
