hi,i cannot figure out what is going on.When i click the start menu the logg
off or turn off options come up,when i click on turn off,it goes to the usual
options,turn off,stand-by and restart.When i click on the turn off button,it

Friend was installing a Norton disk, scan stopped and computer restarted, all
icons are turned down pages except IE and recycle bin, no programs will open,
task manager shows nothing wierd running.  System restore doesn't work.

I have Windows XP Professional with SP2 installed on my computer.
After installing everything I went into the user account and completed the
setup.
I also made another user account at this time and then rebooted. Upon

I've WIN XP SP2 and when I click Start>Control Panel>Security Center, it
tells me the Security Center has either been stopped or not started and to
close the window and Restart the PC.  Well I've done this 3 times now and

When I reboot, it takes 15 minutes to finish coming up.
Most programs seem to run normally.
Disk Defragmenter is very slow to respond, but once the Defragmenter starts

I am using a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Windows XP home edition.  This is
a new system and I am not sure whats up.  When using the pc, it will just
shut down right in the middle of something, no specific programs.  Any ideas
