I am stuck in a rut here.  I heard that there is a HOTFIX for this one, but
I searched for quite some time last night and can not seem to find it, maybe
someone here can help?
The PC operates fine, however, once it is booted up, the system image in the

I'm not sure if it's a virus or what, but my windows firewall keeps on
turning itself off somehow.  Ever since I noticed it happening, I check it
every day and it's always turned to the off option, even when I have put it
in the on option the day before.

My original question was posted entitles "Desktop Properties are gone".
I did a system restore and it looked like it worked at first, but then the
desktop went back to the way it was.
I did the restore again, and it didn't help yet.

Oh, I got so excited when I saw there was an answer to my first post!
However, I wasn't very clear in my original post (I was very tired). I don't
need access to the security of the My Computer zone; though it's nice to know

I downloaded the free Registry Cleaner and it "supposedly" found hundreds of
faults, even though my computer, 2.GHz, Windows XP Pro, 512 MB RAM, seems to
run fine.

I was upgrading from Windows Me to Windows XP Professional when at the

i have a problem when i surf the internet. Whenever i try to close out
windows in my tmobile website it closes, but then the same window pops back
up and then copies of it keep popping up and i'm constanly closing them out
and they won't stop until they get to a like 63 windows. ...

When I tried to hibernate my laptop this morning it locked up so pressed the
power button to shut it down.  When I rebooted a box appeared saying
something about there had been a change to the registry but that a
replacement file had been recovered off my system.  I didnt think ...

If this is not a xp related question then I apologize. My hard drive,
wd 80 gig, is 2 years old. About every 2 weeks it rattles more and
more. It is now sounding like a loud chatter.
Does this mean the drive is about to die?
