GOOGLING around, I can see instructions for manually removing specific software. Has anyone seen a generic description of the steps required (and how to perform each) to remove software? Let's not use the Add/Remove wizard.

Running XP Pro SP2. My boot drive failed, so I just replaced it and ->thought I'd be able to use NTBACKUP to "restore" the system from the fresh full backups I'd been religiously making.

Whenever i press Ctrl + Alt + Del; the Windows Task Manager appears, however without a title bar and a menu bar.... Where is the problem?? Keyboard shortucts to menus don't work, and therfore i can't even switch tabs in the task manager.

c:\Documents and Settings\Username is not accessible My harddisk died and I plug it into another pc to access it. All files can be copied except the files which originally put in the c:\Documents and Settings\Username

I had to do a hard-reboot. Now, everytime I start WindowsXP, CHKDSK runs on one of my drives. Everything comes out ok, but how do I prevent this? - xavier

I have been using XP FOR OVER 4 YEARS BUT TODAY WHEN I TRY TO RUN MY PC I AM ASKED FOR USERNAME AND PASSWORD. I HAVE TRIED USING F8 WHEN REBOOTING AND TRIED TO REVERT TO LAST CONFIGURATION BUT I STILL GET BACK TO PAGE REQUESTING USERNAME AND PASSWORD.

After installing update 910437, all 2K office products become unstable and crash after opening two or three documents. Tried installing SP3-thought that might help-- but it said it couldn't find the expected product.

Allo folks, have a bit of a weird one. My users have Outlook 2000 on their XP SP2 machines, and as of a couple days ago some but not all of them started having the same issue. This makes me suspect a windows update, as most of them are set to automatically install.
