I'm trying to use Restorer2000 (from http://www.bitmart.net/) to scan for deleted files, but it hangs when trying to scan the drive. All the support people can tell me is that it doesn't usually hang! Has anyone seen problems like this with this product? OR can recommend

Some files, directories were corrupted by Philips/Nero/microsoft, resulting in the following example of a file name: QIKT~0.EE Windows XP doesn't recognise it, and trying to subs the correct letters doesn't work either. Any ideas to recover or delete it? Thanks.

I'm using XP Home if it matters. Does anyone know of a utility that will attach info to a file such as the originating program (Ntbackup for example), type of file (backup), what's in it (drive D), etc. File properties don't show this amount of detail.
