When I opened and checked Control Panel->Sounds I see a list of sounds with some blank spaces in the list of sounds itself, plus an old program which is still having sounds attributed to it, despite having removing this thing.

If I try to run Win XP Home normally, after the logo with scrolling bars, screen flickers once, then goes completely black. It still draws the mouse and responds, not sure about keyboard. Have tried to initialize through safe mode, but a long list of multidisk(0)partition(1) etc. ...

When right clicking on document to use "send to" feature, CD drive is no longer listed. It was there before but now gone. Using XP Home Ed. Any quick and easy fix or do I need to go into the registry? TIA,

When I booted up my pc today, running Windows XP Home Edition OEM, I suddenly noticed that all my desctop icons had got a background(I know how to change the color, but not how to make them transparent again) and that I had got a new shortcut arrow. Anyone know how to set it back ...

To remove the solid background behind the text of a desktop item I go to: "Performance Options" and I tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" Is there a way of removing the solid background AND the drop shadows?

I have awful grey lines going through everything on my pc... from the desktop to the internet sites... it is NOT the monitor, as I've tried it elsewhere... it's the computer and I can't figure out how to get rid of the lines... anyone have ideas?
