I cannot upgrade from XP home edition (SP2) to XP pro (sp1) edition.  What do

My CD ROM is no longer being detected. When I open the device manager, there
is a warning that says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I followed the troubleshooter recommendation and un-installed the device ...

I am having a slight delay in boot (after desktop is displayed)

My computer can no longer read any disks! WHY??! it could always play CDs
DVDs and all kinds of program disks but now it cant do anything and i cant
figure out why!

Double clicking or right clicking and opening shortcuts on the desktop no

Somehow in trying to install a new video card, I've lost the display
adapters from the device manager.  Hence, I can't install the new
drivers for the video card.
The card information flashes by when I first power up so I'm assuming
