here at the office we have several computers, all running xp that were all named oddly - in an attempt to standardize the network, i've gone and renamed them all to a standard format we came up with here. they all have worked except for one - it shows the computer on the network

I got called out to a friends who claimed that Word had disappeared from his machine. When I got there I checked the whole hard drive and discovered that the whole of Microsoft Office had disappeared.

I note that there is a line enry list of every program that I have accessed and used in Start. With time this list grows to enormous proportions. Is there a way to prevent these programs from appearing in Start?
