Running XP SP2.  Have a Compaq computer with the "Recovery Discs", not a real
XP disc.  Borrowed someone's XP Pro SP2 to try and repair the XP installation
on my C drive.
First problem that came up during boot was: Windows could not start because

Now I've done it... sigh: I'm unsure which of my CoA's goes with which
computer.  ('Put the CoA's on the door panels, then mixed up the panels. )

I have come across the SMTP service on XP if you install IIS.  What is the
application for this?  Is it for people hosting say a web server on an
intranet allowing an email service from the web server?
I am interested to know how this is likely to be used?

I had set a new folder months ago under the C drive in My Computer.  I had
saved all the programs I downloaded from the internet.  Now, I can no longer
save to this folder or delete anything in it.  I keep getting an access
denied message.

Chkdsk will not run on a Thinkpad T60, and it generates no error message.  It
just ignores the dirty bit and an active /F request on startup.  I know there
is file system corruption.  I've tried every remedy I can find on the net.  I

my computer shuts off for no reason at all but it doesnt shut all the way
down. To get it to come back on i have to hold the power button for 5 sec let
