Two issues here.
1) When I go Start->Run and type "c:" the dropdown shows all files
that I have ever opened, it seems.  And most of them don't even
exist.  I guess XP attempts to help you out with opening files, but

I just did a repair install of xp sp2 (slipstreamed) due to i couldnt
uninstall media player 11 which is the worst piece of crap, so after repair
install it installed media player 9 & i installed 10. I noticed in the event
viewer it installed RedBook drivers i assume for my dvd ...

I went through the "taking ownership of files/folders" steps
successfully, for the most part, and have access to at least half of
my old files in the old user account. Access is still denied to some
of those files, however, although I can see what's in the files, it

I helped a friend buy a computer.  It came without a modem, but he had
a modem.  We installed his modem but XP does not find and install it.
In fact it doesn't show any Comm/Serial ports and there has to be a
serial port on the modem doesn't there?

I am having startup issue for my Laptop, it stops at wecome message

in safe mode it stops at "loading your personal setting". I have data

Have a PC with two users, both are administrators.  Installed a network
printer when logged in to one of the accounts.  Printer does not show up in
other account.  Is there a way to install it on the PC so that all accounts
on the PC can see it, and it is not necessary to rerun ...

I am begginer in using dBASE III PLUS. I heard that it requires floppy
disks of dBASE but i don't have. I am having Windows XP. So i request

I have auto updates for xp from 2004-2007, should the previous years updates
be deleted, or must the files remain on computer. The files are using up too
much space on disk.

Hi....My Dell XPS desk top will not go beyond boot up into Window XP.
Black screen listed choice of "safe mode" & etc. but freeze after
select choice.
So brought a laptop to get on line to get this far.

When I installed OpenOffice I had it set all Microsoft Office files to
open with it. When I uninstalled Microsoft Office it removed all those
definitions. I was just wondering where they are stored. I just
downloaded an Excel document. It wouldn't open so I set it to open all
