I accidently disconnected power to my laptop during shutdown while an update was downloading. Now when logging on to XP it immediately logs off. Can and will someone please help me... URGENT!!! Thanks so much for your anticipated assistance.

I tried to install vista and it failed.....now i can not get back into xp using the repair counsole. i am asked which installation i want to log onto to. i select 1, it asked me for the admin password. after i type the password it goes back to the c:\windows>

I'm trying to do a windows update and I can choose either Express or Custom, but either way it searched for a few seconds then displays this- [Error number: 0x800A0007]

My sound has stopped. The only sound i can get is a little beep from the cpu. My speakers are connected but when I attempt to adjust the volume from the control panel, the volume control is "grayed out" and I cannot select or move the slider. Any ideas?

i had to reinstall windows xp since doing this everything works ok apart from playing games.before the system met all requirements now it does not, i have put the drivers back with the original disc but still no joy

In My Computer the toolbars have become locked on one row and there is no option when right clicking to unlock them. In fact all the option when right clicking are greyed out. Any solutions out there?

Ok, windows updates ran. It tells me to restart, I click later. Then I click Start and find it set IE and Microsoft outlook as my defaults. How do I prevent microcrap from setting my defaults without me telling it to?
