I keep getting a dropped connection due to timeout when I upload via
ftp a batch of files to my ftp server.  This is on a free hosting

My CD Drive will read audio CD's but when I put a CD-ROM in it doesn't want
to read it... when I click on the drive icon in My Computer it just opens the
opens the drive like I'm going to burn a CD. But there's nothing there.

Microsoft XP Pro is installed on a new (2 years ago) PC.  All Microsoft
updates have been installed without any problem... until now...
Whether this problem was influenced by yesterday's (March 13) Microsoft
update or not, I cannot say with certainty.  But the problem occured ...

My PC, Dell 4550, will not stop displaying the notification that "This

The Java update takes a VERY LONG time to download and install. I would not
bother with it except some applications/programs may use Java. Is there a
way to hasten the Java updating process?

By attempting to open 'control panel -> user account' nothing happens. Users
can log on to the PC but are unable to change their passwords. I have
