Specifically, I dual boot windows and Linux.  Every six months or so,
Windows gets hosed up, and I feel the need to reinstall.
Unfortunately, that overwrites the MBR, where the Linux GRUB loader is
(so I end up reinstalling Linux too).

I just bought a laptop (secondhand) it is a Dell Inspiron e1505.
The HD is partitioned and drive D, consists only of a recovery restore
utility - Dell Factory Image Restore. The instructions are to use F8 after
boot and goto Windows Advanced Boot Options select the option "Repair ...

I received this Email the first of April.  I then sent proof of purchase of a
new laptop in December to the Buffalo address and heard nothing.
Anyone know where I can go to ask Microsoft if this is a hoax or legitimate?

I would like a way to set the default font for Wordpad to Times New Roman.  
It is normally Arial.
Is this done by a Registry entry or some other method?

I don't know what or how I changed this but I have
a desktop shortcut for My Documents folder. It has
always been sorted in sequence with the subfolders
first and the documents following.

Is there a way to delete these files with out running the disk clean-up
utily?

I am trying to reformat laptop using the recovery discs.  All seems to go
well until I get to a screen that shows existing partitions and unpartioned
space on the computer.  the screen says C:partion1 [NTFS]     38154 MB <12959

Recently upgraded my harddrive to 300 Gb Maxtor
and Windows XP Home is unable to make one large

I was cutting and pasting picture files and i must've cut one and then
another before pasting the first one and now it is lost/gone.
Is there anyway i can get it back/find it?
