brand, after i unplug my USB flash drive, i get no disconnect sound of

I'm trying to set a picture as my background image on my desktop, and anytime
I try to do it, the dialog boxes in question either freeze or completely
disappear!
What I'm doing is this:

i have a HP PSC 500 and for some reason the drivers dont work.  when i try
plug and play it recognizes the device, but when i try the scanner wizard, it
says: COMPUTER CANNOT DETECT SCANNER.  PLEASE MAKE SURE DEVICE IS TURNED ON

Just curious if anyone knows how to go about changing the login box
for Windows XP?
The box I am referencing is the one that shows after Ctrl-Alt-Del is
pressed.  I would like to change it to instead ask for phone number

my regular audio device works but my midi device doesn't play any sound. it
used to work.

my dad's sony stopped updating / downloading about Feb 21, 2007.  he was
running ie7--there is no menu bar with internet options/tools .  there is an
icon for internet options in control panel, but there is no name and it will
not open.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to look at my plea for help.
My problems all started when one morning I went to start up my computer
running Windows XP Pro 64 bit, and all it did was to get as far as the
screen where the bar goes back and forth and then re-boot without going any ...

I'm can't find out how to search files by certain attributes.  All I see
if filename, contents, modification date, and size.  I need to search by
owner.  I can add a column with file owner and sort by it, but I can see
how to search for this.
