there is a high pitched whine on my speakers whenever i turn up the
volume..and most times the sound system dosent even work..you can hear
nothing but the high pitched noise. what should i do?

I have two computers networked through a DSL/router.  Computer A and B  (wife and husband)
Both computers use Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.
Both computers connect to router via an Ethernet cable.
Both computers use AVG antivirus, Windows Firewall, Windows Defender.

When I click on add or remove programs in the control paned, the screen
opens that says 'please wait while list is populated'.
The hour glass goes away and the list stays blank with the statement still
there.

I can open the task launcher but cannot open any documents. they don't

The "Start Windows" sound option listed in "Program events" on the "Sounds"
tab in the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" has disappeared. All the
"wav" files are there and work fine. All other system / application sounds
work fine.

I have power point 2003 on my windows xp service pack2 computer, and when I
try to open a pp fle, "edit with notepad" comes up and I can't open it.  I
tried to save it to my documents and  I still couldn't open it.  Do I have to

-I suspect that this file may be causing problems in my computer and is
classified as moderate to high security risk. If delete this file (Kodak
updater) will it cause me operational problems other than not being able to
