the problem: windows won't complete startup... this happened after attempting to install new antivirus... i think i need to uninstall antivirus, but i can't due to the fact that windows start page begins to reload then computer shuts down

I have two computers hardwired through a router but not networked. One has XP Pro/SP2 and the other has XP Home SP2 and both are fully updated except both still have IE6. The patch for DST was applied before the time change and all seemed to be working fine.

I have an Icon with no file extenion on it. Properties List it as file unknown on how to open. It has 0 bytes for size. When i right click and pick delete it say cannot delete, cannot read from the source file or disk. Anyone have any suggestions please.
