The "help" option (F-1) is turned on automatically every time I start MS

I have a HP zd7000 laptop running XP Home edition.   My CD/DVD drive has some
issues....  When I put in a DVD it automatically plays.   If I put in a
regular CD with data or programs on it the computer will not recognize a CD

Could somebody who understands this arcane stuff tell me if these
