We are unable to open My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures, or Control Panel. When we click on those icons we go on the clock for a few seconds, then it reverts back to the desktop screen, without opening anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

I want to be able to see all the windows I have opened, one besides the other one. Even if I uncheck "group similar taskbar buttons", it is impossible to have them in the way I want. Instead, they appear grouped together, which requires to scroll down or up each time I want to go ...

My computer ignores the first request to logoff or shutdown, but executes properly on the second request. I used the XP troubleshooter (and msconfig) to trace this problem to the Windows Management Instrumentation service, but that service seems necessary for other activities. ...

When I try to save certain photos or gifs in an e-mail I get the message that the mshtml.hlp file is missing. I searched my C:\ and it does not exist. I went to the Microsoft online support and could not get any add'l info.

I've been running the same XP SP2 setup for a long time and a couple of days ago I noticed the time and date had got set to incorrect values. I reset them but next time I logged in the problem was back - the date was set to sometime in 2006.

Whatever application I open up starts with a minimized window. It changes when I click to maxamize. I've tried stretching the window but after I close and re-open it is again minimized. I think this started after an upgrade. ???
