I have had a memory dump after I get a bsod and then text telling me there was an error. When it reboots the system is looking for the computers mac address in an endless search.

Windows Explorer starts up fine. Browses fine. But whenever I click on a file opened by Windows Media Player, Windows Explores says it must close. I then have to alt-ctl-del and end Windows Media Player. It can then be restarted. But the same thing happens when I click on a WMP

I just installed Windows XP Pro on an older computer which had a Windows 2000 Professional operating system. I chose the New Install option rather then the Upgrade. Everything worked fine except some of the old Windows 2000 files & folders
