My system will not boot up as I get "a disk read error occurred"......tried
repairing with with XP disc but same error shows on restart.
Please help.

When I switch my PC on at the logon screen I am informed I have messages
waiting, but in outlook 2003 (My default tool) when I open that there are no
messages there.
If I then log off and back on it still tells me there are 2 messages

I bought my UK Dell PC about 4 years ago. Dell didn't supply a XP back-up
disc because of the "System Restore" facility. Well, "System Restore" has
failled and I want to Format the hard drive and re-install XP Home. Dell
doesn't want to know.

I can not start up my laptop in standard mode, just in safe mode. I have
restored previous checkpoints but it did not work either.

I have been told that I need to re-install W XP Service Pack 2.  I am not
able to locate the software.  When I go to the XP update page I receive a
message that states that I already have SP 2 installed.
I need to get out of this loop and find a way to reinstall SP 2.  What ideas

Everytime I turn on my computer or restart it, several Hardware Wizard update
windows pop up.  I've tried following the instructions in the windows, but it
didn't work.  So I've been using Control+Alt+Delete to get rid of the

When I insert a DVD into my DVD-RW drive an empty folder appears. When I drag
files into this it says there is an error copying files, what do you want to
do? Retrying doesn't help so I have to cancel. Any ideas?

I used to be able to compose a message and "save as" to my desktop.

This is a really bizarre situation.
I'm a tech and I was setting up a Dell Optiplex GX745, which has no PS/2
Support. I loaded Windows XP Pro SP 2 from CD and it was going along great,
until I installed McAfee ePO agent.
