I just inherited a Windows XP desktop PC that hasn't been used for awhile. Unfortunately, I don't know the Windows password so I can't even get to the Desktop. I tried booting up in Safe Mode but the Admin account was password protected, too.

I am running XP home edition. hit the auto update in the tray, went through the process, hit the button to restart to complete the download, now my computer wont start. goes through the boot process, flashes a blue screen with some text on it, then restarts again.

tried to install service pack 2 for xp which failed. When i rebooted i could not get into windows and got a blue screen that said: Stop C0000135 (unable to locate component) application failed to start because winsrv was not found. Reinstalling application may fix the problem.
