I got a used computer for Christmas as a gift that was 4 years old and it is
gettig slower and slower.  It is a Dell, windows xp pro.  It has 4-MCPU,
1.80 ghz, 512 mg of ram.  What should I do to speed this up, I know more ram
might help, but I don't want to put alot of money ...

Somewhere in the last few days - I don't know when - the tab on the
"properties" page marked "Desktop" disappeared.  "Themes",
"Screen Saver" , "Appearance", "Slide Show" (which I never use) and
"Settings" are there, but "Desktop" has vanished. Any help getting it

The update softwear icon shows up in my task bar and tells me it is
updating, but when I click on it nothing happens.  I would like to be able
to see what the updates are before they are downloaded or installed.  How
can I do this?  I am using XP Pro.

I like to click & hold the left mouse button and slide the mouse up the
start menu to the program I want and then release the button to launch
the program. Windows 2000 and Vista work like that. But XP seems to

It seems to work at first: the content.IE5 folder is cleared with the

I've always sent url's to myself and checked them out later.
I've copied url's and put them on a "new message" and sent them to me; I
have the option of "send link to" and enter my address but Not One Single
method goes to my inbox.  I will however find them in the "sent file" ...
