I got a used computer for Christmas as a gift that was 4 years old and it is gettig slower and slower. It is a Dell, windows xp pro. It has 4-MCPU, 1.80 ghz, 512 mg of ram. What should I do to speed this up, I know more ram might help, but I don't want to put alot of money ...

I am tring to upgrade to XP SP2 but keep getting error code 0x8007050D control ID not found. How can I fix this? Steve

Where is it? I bought a new Acer Vista ready notebook with a guaranteed free upgrade when Vista came out. I'm still waiting! Was it all a lie? Do I need Joe Bornstien? I mean business.

Somewhere in the last few days - I don't know when - the tab on the "properties" page marked "Desktop" disappeared. "Themes", "Screen Saver" , "Appearance", "Slide Show" (which I never use) and "Settings" are there, but "Desktop" has vanished. Any help getting it

The update softwear icon shows up in my task bar and tells me it is updating, but when I click on it nothing happens. I would like to be able to see what the updates are before they are downloaded or installed. How can I do this? I am using XP Pro.

I like to click & hold the left mouse button and slide the mouse up the start menu to the program I want and then release the button to launch the program. Windows 2000 and Vista work like that. But XP seems to require another click on the program shortcut in the menu to launch. ...
