Yesterday when I turned on my comouter the background, toolbars, scrollbars, etc changed color - they are now multicolor (blue, purple, green, and shades of) when they used to be the default blue. Other applications (Word, Internet Explorer, etc) have also changed. However ...

for some reason, i have like no sound on my computer. though the sounds coming from media players, such as itunes and windows meida, work fine, the sound for everything else on my computer doesn't seem to work, i can't even hear the jingle thats supposed to play at the start up ...

As part of our standard build we change the registry to save IE Favorites to the users personal drive, in our case "H:\.": ; These set each users' default save locations, H:\Favorites and H:\My Documents.

I can't install programs because the register won't allow dll-files to be registered. I am administrator so I have al rights. And I can't do format C:\ because there are a lot of stuff I need to backup whitch I can't. Please help me to fix my register.

Hi: I have 5 partitions on a 200 Gig HD. All throughout the folders everywhere, I have a thunbs.db file. Is there any way to del all these files from a command line? I can get a command line easily, but need a command...lol...many thanks...Mike

Whever I use explorer, or my computer, etc., and look at the contents of a folder, or search by name, I see multiple listings of the same file. This is disconcerting. When I try to do a group delete, since I may have the file listed multiple times, it says it can't find the ...

just a tiny question - WinXP has the "shortcutting" link under right mouse button SendTo menu. I added a shrotcut to the %Userprofile%/ SendTo directory pointing to Desktop but then it utilizes only CopyFile function if i may call it that way... how do i get MoveFile

I broke my installation of Windows XP SP2 after messing around with a new vga card and had to perform a repair install. This mostly worked OK, but my installations of SQL from VS2003.NET and the SQL component of Outlook Business Contact manager both now seem to be broken.

Very puzzling. Appreciate any help/ideas anyone may have. I've been patching xp from ms. site for the last couple of weeks. Installed 19 or 20 patches. Now, I cannot see the folders and files that Internet Explorer (6 sp1, latest patches) uses for its cache.

Error message "The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted." This is at the beginning of the operation. I understood that the prompt for the recovery diskette is after the backup is completed.

Hi to all who can help.... When I turn on my PC the screen resolution is different nearly all the time. The icons appear small on my desktop sometimes and the text on some web pages is hard to read. Other times every thing is the way I have it set up.
