How do I preserve a Windows XP sp2 installation (registry, drivers,
installed programs) when I want to reformat my C: drive, without using a

Whenever I am viewing a web page and click on a link to take me to a
different page, my computer hangs and I get the "Not Responding" error
message. Then I freeze and I have to do the Cntrl Alt Del thing, end my

I am having numerous problems with my current setup of xp and want to
reformat the C Drive and reinstall XP from scratch.
When I place the xp disc in the D drive and restart, it asked me to
reboot from the CD but it does not give me the option to re-format.

I hope you can help.  I have comcast.net as my ISP provider and it works
fine.  However, I use other internet based email such as AOL and Outlook Web
Access from work.  I cannot open, read, send, or do anything in these two
programs while on the internet.

I've just discovered I can send and receive faxes from my computer
(Windows XP, SP-2) with the fax modem.
I rarely need to send/receive faxes and even discontinued my fax machine
and cancelled the phone company fax number and line.

I have a dell dimension 8200 bought in 2001; I need to format my c drive and
have made boot discs which should work ( I do have my original installation
CD should these not work) So I don'tthink I have a problem there.
Lately I have noticed that one of my hard drives emits weird ...
