Quite simply put, I know of at least two movies, brand new, manufactured
releases, not ripped and burned, that will not play on any of the five
computers in my house which use XP.

I recently upgraded my Windows XP Home to XP Professional and it
wouldn't get updates from Microsoft. First, when I tried automatic
updates, it said "The following updates were not installed: Windows
Installer 3.1" If I try the manual .exe it would say "Access

My color is set for medium 16 bit and when I shut down or reboot, it reverts
to the lowest setting...What can I do to make it stat at 16?  I have looked
at all the troubleshooting areas and cannot find anyting about this..Thank

How do I change this so I am directed to C:\Documents and

My old Pentium II works fine with XP in general, but I have one problem:
Since the kids use this PC, I install some game software every now and
then, from my own account (with administrating rights of course).

I have Winfax Pro 10.02 installed , my operating system is Windows XP home
SP2.  The fax program faxes fine,  however my personal information has
recently changed and I cannot update the user information in the program.

I booted from CD and tried reinstalling win xp; when it got to installing
drivers, it goes no further. It seems to loop there, and continues to show 35
minutes remaining.
Can I bypass driver installation? Or what can I do now?

My computer is running Windows XP SP2 on a 2.4GHz Celeron with 384MB
RAM.  For a non-administrative user, using explorer.exe on "My
computer" will cause explorer to lock at 100% cpu until it is killed

If I right-mouse-button on my "Start" button and then click "Properties"
then I would swear that it used always to open with the "Taskbar" tab
(i.e. the first one) selected. Now it opens with the "Start Menu" tab
selected.

I bought a tablet pc that came with xp not tablet xp, I can't seem to migrate
it from my old tablet.  I can't purchase the OS anywhere(Don't want to, have

I have an XP system with only one user logon.  I recently decided to password
protect it to keep my kids off this particular system.  When setting up the
pass word, it accepted a 14 character pw. I rebooted, my single user login
comes up, but the password is only 12 characters.  ...
