Have run multiple Recovery Installs of XP SP2, and Recovery Console (bootcfg,
chkdsk /r, and fixboot). PC still goes into restart loop. Was getting brief
two or three line message on blue screen, but could not see error message. It
flashed too quickly.  Also ran MAP ARC command ...

I went under My Computer i was fixing to click on format right, i see when ya
do that, it erases all ya data. is that part of the process too in order to
install a new hard drive.

- it displays the bios,

I have an ibm thinkpad laptop x20  with xpsp2 and it wouldn't retart after
last xp autoupdate.
It looks like the bios version changed. It reads PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6
I can't enter the bios and it freezes at that point.

I recently had a problem with booting windows because of corrupt files in the
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\" folder (SAM, system etc). I used the XP boot
disk to do a manual repair and copied over the files needed from
"C:\WINDOWS\repair".

XP/SP2 Desktop hangs on restart/re-boot. This was after a Windows Update
had been applied. Using previous recovery points does not help.  Safe
mode in all its versions works.
In the past when this happened, I used MSCONFIG to disable startup and

I have two cd/dvd drives.  One works fine but the other, the dvd burner
drive is crashing my system.  When I put a disk in the drive I'm presented
with a 'print pictures window' which hangs up my pc.  It keeps running and

For several months now the screen resolution on one of my network computers
keeps resetting back to 800x600 from 1024x768.
I'm using a Nvidia FX5200 video card and I've downloaded new drivers at
least twice in recent months. The change in resolution seems to happen
