Real novice here-got a problem. I have Windows XP. Background color turned to
blue a few weeks ago. Fixed itself, then went to red. Fixed itself again, now
has stayed on green. Changing background color to silver or light green just
makes background color  lighter shades of green ...

I'd like to put my I386 folder on my hard drive so I don't have to use
my C when something calls for it.  Could someone please tell me where,
in the Registry, this line is?  Also, MS must have a document which

I am trying to fix a harddrive that was corrupted by a trojan.  It messed
things up to the extent that Windows XP pro wouldn't even boot into Safe
Mode and gave a BSOD.
I took the drive out and scanned it as an external drive to another

Okay I know how to set my folders to view with the thumbnail option but in
Vista where is that option or did they do away with it?  I have Vista on my
notebook and I can't find a thumbnail option under view, only icon sizes

I have a big picture collection, which I imported from CDs. For some
unknown reason, someone injected a "thumbs.db" in a great many folders.
This was not on the old computer, and unwanted on this computer.

I am running XP Sp.2 and while installing an Ipod nano the option came up to
disconnect network drives. Whithout looking I said yes, now I can't connect
to the workgroup server. I do get internet access but no peer to peer. I can

Now that Microsoft is aggressively marketing Vista, I'm waiting with
bated breath for the other shoe to drop--Microsoft announcing that XP
will no longer be supported by them past a certain date.

I just upgraded to XP Professional and installed the Recovery Console.  When
I attempt to launch the Console, it requires an administrator's password.  I
am the original and only user of this pc and have never had a password as
administrator.  I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

When I boot, I have a choice of going into XP or using the MS Recovery
Console.  I can boot into WinXP all the time.  However, when I try to
